Always a wonderful and unusual place to hike! By this time of year there would
probably not be many flowers left, but all the rain apparently kept them
going.
We took other trails than we usually do this time: starting at the Visitor's
Center (only a couple of cars there when we rolled in at 9:30), we took the
Condor Gulch trail up through flower-filled meadows and ravines to the High
Peaks Trail and followed it around most of the way. We made a detour to see
the Rim Trail and Moses Spring Trail (with a beautiful lake), finishing
on the Bear Gulch Trail. All in all it was about 6.5 miles and took us 4 hours
at a leasurely pace with many stops.
