We hiked to the peak in Garland Ranch Park in Carmel Valley. It was about five miles but an elevation gain of 1800 feet and very steep. From the top you could make out Pebble Beach and Carmel Beach through the haze.
Afterwards we had a very enjoyable lunch with local wine at the Corkscrew Cafe in Carmel Vally Village. An obnoxious jay first screeched at us for a while then decided to take a bath in the fountain, merrily splashing water all around. Above us and behind us were trellises with ripe grapes.
