Anza-Borrego March 26-27, 2005

Six times the normal amount of winter rain meant this year's wildflower season is the best in 50 years - a once in a lifetime event. So we booked the last remaining hotel room in Borrego Springs, hopped on a plane to Orange County (San Diego was sold out on Southwest), and got over there as fast as we could. It really was out of this world. Flowers almost everywhere, and this is the largest desert park in the U.S. The Carrizo Badlands hike and the Culp Valley hike are among the best we've ever done. The California Parks site has a map of the park.
